Surrender to Faith

Surrender to faith means surrender to the love of God. It means surrender to the fact that God loves us and His plans for us are prosperity and not disaster….. that we were created to be the best we can be in life{John 10:10}. I got to understand this when  I realized that God takes care of everything even nature.

These trees grow along Waiyaki Way, one of the Kenya’s many highways. No one attends to them but they look healthy, strong  and blossom when the season is right. The birds are alive and active, the fish and all animals of the land are alive to date because God wants it that way{Matthew 6:26}. Actually, when you observe nature you will discover that it is quite peaceful; alone but peaceful because God is in charge. Likewise, I have learnt to be peaceful and hopeful, expectant for the best because if God can take care of nature then I believe He will do far much for the one He loves{Matthew 6:26}.

In life we may find ourselves abandoned, alone and things may become difficult, but the truth is, even if the world may be against us, we will at some point be what we are meant to be.{ref Jesus Christ – He suffered rejection and persecution from the world but still managed to bring salvation to the world}.We need to trust that God did not abandon us on this earth, but created us for a purpose which is meant to give Him glory.

I hope we get encouraged by this article and realize that He who takes care of nature even when no one is concerned, will take care of us and we will blossom at the right time.

God bless you.

Growing Our Faith

Joshua 1:9,”Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” These were the words spoken to Joshua before he conquered Canaan.

For Joshua to accept God’s words of encouragement, I believe he had deep faith in Him. Likewise, I believe we need to have deep faith in God for us to be successful in relationships, leadership positions, careers, ministries, education et cetra. We have to believe that God is always with us(omnipresent) and He will not abandon us.

Deep faith is strong faith, it is faith that does not easily falter. Such faith just doesn’t come by, we have to work on it until it gets to the level of Joshua and other great men in the bible- a level where the devil cannot easily shake.

img_20160921_110757To illustrate this better I will compare deep and strong Faith to the Anniversary Towers here in Nairobi, Kenya. This  building  is stone by stone put together until it became the tall and strong building that we can now see. The building is so strong that no wind or storm can shake it down. So should our faith be, strong enough that the devil cannot shake it with fear, worry and lies.

To grow our Faith I believe we need to:

  • Read the word of God regularly. The scriptures will help understand God hence draw close to Him for He speaks to us through the scriptures.
  • Be prayerful. Let prayer be a part of our lives. Prayer simply means talk to God. It is the point where we release not only our love to him but also our fears, worries, hurts, anxieties e.t.c.
  • Fellowship with one another. This can be done through bible studies, prayer and family meetings. In these fellowships we get to hear testimonies of how God is powerful, faithful and full of love hence our Faith in Him grows.
  • Be knowledgeable. Seek to know more about God by attending Church seminars, Catechism classes and Retreats where the word of God is taught in depth.

Faith is a gift from God. It is one of the best things to have for it leads to peace, joy and a deeper understanding of God. So I pray we desire it, seek it and hopefully live by it.

Christ thy kingdom come…
